- Sir Edmund P. Hillary (Edmund the Rotund, 28 Mar 2000), is too laid-back to worry about who's boss, unless he decides to "sumo" Nitro into submission by falling flat on him. Nitro S (for Stubborn) Pierce (25 Nov 2003). Mellowing at last, he doesn't get squirted much anymore; the mere threat of the "bad cat" bottle is sufficient. Has a serious addiction to half-and-half! Xing Lu (5 Apr 2004) was found by Dad, zipped into a soft-side cooler left by the side of a road. Hates the boy cats, tolerates dogs almost cordially. Lives mostly in her own two rooms unless Mom's available to be her "safe lap". Igmu Sapa (Black Cat in Lakota) wears the crazypants in the family. Came to Chez Pierce on 21 August 2009. More feisty than Nitro ever was; been known to hook Mom's sammich right off her plate and tow it under the computer desk where he cannot be reached. Squirting has no effect on him. Nelson John LaPurr (8 Aug 1990-26 Sept 2008) was the elder statescat; he could have been King o' the Cats, but preferred to stay out of the limelight except when he assumed the persona of "Cap'n Nels" of the good ship Cat o' Nine Tails.
